From Our President

Welcome to Buzz, a specialty meat and seafood purveyor in Charleston, WV.  It is my honor and privelege to be the third-generation in my family to own and operate this unique business.  Our company was originally started here in Charleston in the late 1930's by Mark Hill, who eventually sold the business to my father and grandfather in 1968.  As you can imagine, in an eighty year life span, any company must change and adapt in order to stay relevant and be successful, and Buzz is no exception.  While we're proud and fortunate to be well-known in our community for a famous local product, Buzz Buttered Steaks, our business has changed dramatically since sales of that product peaked in the mid-1980's.  Today, Buzz Buttered Steaks (still available!) represent less than 1% of our overall business.  

For the last 30 years, we've focused more and more narrowly on our niche in the foodservice marketplace, as a producer of high-quality cut steaks, chops and grinds for operators of independent restaurants (i.e. not chains).  The work that we do in our USDA-inspected meat processing facility sets Buzz apart from our national competitors and includes sourcing the highest quality beef, lamb, pork, veal and all-natural poultry in the world.  Our recent expansion into the fresh seafood business has confirmed what we already knew: customers want a partner in their business who they can count on for consistent quality, especially when it comes to center-of-the-plate proteins.
